Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Serve as transportation engineer/project engineer for roadway/transportation projects for IDOT, Tollway, or Local Agency (Municipality, Divisions of Transportation) projects, either locally-funded or state/federally-funded
  • Provide guidance, leadership and training to design team (design engineer, interns, co-op students)
  • Communicate with clients, contractors and staff on various roadway design projects
  • Coordinate with stakeholders
  • Prepare contract documents for projects ranging from resurfacing to multi-lane widening projects (Phase I & II engineering design)
  • Responsible for development of project plans including (but not limited to) removal plans, plan & profile, drainage & utility, traffic staging, traffic signal, roadway cross-sections, erosion/sediment control, landscape restoration, pavement marking & signing etc.
  • Generate estimates of cost, time, and project deliverable schedules
  • Prepare contract specifications and front-end bid documentation
  • Participate in design/client meetings
  • Participate in resolution of design, field, and scheduling issues
  • Limited travel required (client meetings, occasional training, etc.) – mileage reimbursement per State of Illinois policy
  • Participate in assignments for Proposal/Statements of Interest for prospective projects as part of a group effort

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois (desired)
  • Fully Eligible to Work in U.S. No Visa Sponsorship
  • 3+ years professional engineering experience
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Bentley GeoPAK or Microstation InRoads experience desired
  • AutoCAD Civil3D experience desired
