The Chicago neighborhood of Noble Square is located in the greater West Town community area. Like Wicker Park to the north and Ukrainian Village to the west, Noble Square was established by a changing mix of European immigrant populations over several decades. Following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, German and Scandinavian settlers were the first on the scene. Soon after, Russian, Ukrainian, Jews and Poles migrated to the area and made Noble Square home. Today the neighborhood celebrates a diverse blend of residents from many backgrounds and social classes. The neighborhood features beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture with single family-homes and two- and three-flats dominating the housing inventory.

For a bit of culture that, at times, can lean towards the experimental, Chopin Theatre is a non-traditional playhouse with a main stage and studio theater, plus a cafe and art gallery for good measure. Since 1990, the theatre has produced over 7,000 presentations of avant garde plays, films, art shows, literary events and performance art pieces.

Noble Square has a pretty large selection of dining options – for serious foodies and casual diners alike. Owned by top Chicago chef, Shawn McClain, The Green Zebra is one of the city's best vegetarian destinations as the menu caters to the specific dietary standards of non-meat eaters. Meat lovers needn't fret however, May Street Market has what you crave with fish, venison and steak all proudly represented on the menu. For good Mexican food, Noble Square has options galore. Some of the neighborhood faves are El Barco and the La Pasadita. Flo is the place for a good Mexican breakfast, lunch or brunch.

Five Star Bar and Grill has three things working in its favor: bourbon, beer and burgers – oh, and pigs-in-a-blanket makes four. If it's a touch of Irish you want, J. Patrick's is the real deal. Fish and chips, Guinness and an assortment of Irish whiskeys are the draw here. Another neighborhood favorite, Twisted Spoke is decked out in a biker motif, with vintage choppers and bike parts on display throughout. The Spoke's rooftop patio is a great fair weather treat where patrons can enjoy a juicy burger, great beer selection and good music. West Town Tavern offers up what it describes as "contemporary comfort food". Set in a cozy atmosphere of exposed brick walls and hardwood floors, the menu boasts a variety of seafood and meat entrees, delicious salads, healthy appetizers and a selection of old and new world wines. When in the neighborhood, be sure to walk in the Swim Cafe for a cup of coffee or tea and try one of their mouthwatering baked goodies. Sports fans in Noble Square can get their fix from one of the many big-screen TVs at Players Bar and Grill. The bar offers a good selection of domestic and imported beer, and pool and darts are available for tipsy competitors in the rear game room. Some may call the Chipp Inn a dive bar, but this no-frills watering hole is a great way to spend some time with friends and knock back a few cheap beers, play some pool, and listen to a few tunes on the jukebox. Yep, the Chipp Inn is the premiere dive of Noble Square.

The CTA has several bus routes serving Noble Square: Ashland Avenue (on the neighborhood’s western border), Chicago Avenue (take it east to the Blue Line's Chicago stop just beyond Noble Square's borders) and Grand Avenue to the south. The Kennedy Expressway is also a great way to commute to downtown or destinations beyond.
