Job Description

THE POSITION

The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing market strategy and achieving marketing targets. Specific responsibilities include business and market development; market research and planning; strategic direction for promotion and advertising; coordination with sales; and, hiring and directing the day-to-day activities of marketing staff.  The position is based in Chicago, IL.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve system and goals.
  • Provides leadership and/or supports the design, development, and implementation of products and service lines.
  • Oversees and provides direction to market and competitor analysis.
  • Provides leadership, direction and management of the market research function.
  • Creates an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance.
  • Ensures all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure of resources.
  • Provides input and support to the Company’s leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
  • Provides marketing skills and expertise to the Company by building, developing and managing a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Prepares presentations to explain the Company’s current and future strategies.

THE CANDIDATE

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Communications
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in marketing.
  • Ability to manage, lead and direct others

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must work effectively with Senior-level executives and leaders and staff of affiliated vendors.
  • Must have strong experience directing an outside agency.
  • Ability to help develop a sales story to assist in leasing presentations.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity and good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising.
  • Ability to work independently combined with a strong collaborative style of communication
  • Must have some knowledge of commercial real estate including a broad understanding of finance, leasing and legal.
  • Ability to develop strategic solutions required
  • Persuasion and conflict resolution skills required
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization and ability to work and learn independently and in a team situation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks effectively and establish priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
